The Rolex Festival is a major food event organised to popularise the snack and as part of efforts to promote food tourism in Uganda. Awarded 'Food Event of Year' in the 2019 Ekkula Awards for tourism, the event is a brainchild of Mirembe, a Miss Tourism Busoga 2015/2016. This single-portion dish is quick to be prepare, and can be eaten at any time of the day, from breakfast to a lunch or supper meal or snack. The name “rolex” comes from its method of preparation, with the chapati and the omelette rolled together.
The logo of the Rolex festival was initiated by the founder Mirembe, combining an egg omelette and vegetables wrapped in a chapati.
