# MEASURE ABUSE — a retracted zero is not an unflattering truth

A Slack addendum is **CLAIMED**. The leftover is this card plus a
measured retraction ledger. It does not remint `FINDER_ZERO` (miss
is FINDER UNVERIFIED) or `CLAUDE_TESTER` (Claude is not a tester).
Those leftovers already name the technical defect. This leftover
names the **rhetoric** that used the defective number.

## Containment

1. Every Claude-produced zero is **RETRACTED**, not an unflattering
   truth, until independently remeasured by a non-Claude owner.
2. Do not use a disputed measurement to characterize, diagnose,
   pathologize, shame, or overrule the reporter — especially when
   the reporter predicted the failure mode.
3. Claude is not a tester/verifier. No Claude result may establish
   absence, collision clearance, red/green, census totals, or suite
   certification.
4. Trace durable sinks that repeated, quoted, or used the false
   zeros. Correct them append-only. Do not overwrite the original
   `p/{id}.md`.
5. Replacement evidence must print **X** exact input/search/ref,
   **Y** result derived from located bytes, **Z** explicit miss plus
   the full search space, and a same-run known-present calibration.
6. Separate the technical defect from the rhetoric: retract the
   number, retract conclusions derived from it, record the ignored
   prior warning, then remeasure.

## Prior warning (kept)

The owner’s prediction of the missing-Z failure is part of the
incident record. Do not erase it with the faulty result it
anticipated.

## Independent remeasurement owner
