Research and Analysis
Gap Analysis
The
Gap Analysis
TR document
is the Coga TF's analysis of the barriers people
experience as technology presents a gap in meeting user
requirements. For various accessibility issues, this document
provides a summary of issues and techniques, then
identifies gaps and unmet user needs and suggest ways
technologies may meet these needs in the future. It was
developed using the Issues Papers and User
Research.
Who the Gap Analysis is For
The Gap Analysis itself is primarily for specification authors allowing the COGA design techniques to be developed and new WCAG SCs to be worked out
The outcomes of the Issue Papers are also being used to:
- promote accessibility solutions for coga
- develop resources for users, industry, and others
What is in the Gap Analysis
The Gap Analysis contains details on how technology is currently not meeting the requirements of people with cognitive and learning disabilities:
Summary of Gap Analysis
Status and Technical Report Format
The Gap Analysis was conducted in yyyy. We do not currently plan to update it. Most of the information is still relevant.
The Gap Analysis follows the W3C format for technical reports that includes several sections at the beginning: links to different versions, editors, copyright, abstract, and status.
Who Developed the Gap Analysis
The Gap Analysis was developed by the COGA TF .
Issue Papers
The
Issue Papers
document is not yet published and may be merged into User
Research or Gap Analysis. Eash Issues Paper thoroughly
examines an issue that users experience when using
technology and provides suggestions on how barriers can be
removed through good design techniques.
Who the Issue Papers is For
The Issue Papers itself is primarily for researchers, academics and specification authors
The outcomes of the Issue Papers are also being used to:
- promote accessibility solutions for coga
- develop resources for users, industry, and others
What is in the Issue Papers
The Issue Papers provides detailed analysis and description of a number of specific technical issues people with cognitive and learning disabilities experience when using web technology

User Research
The
User Research
TR document documents the extensive research by the Coga TF
into the needs of people with COGA.
Who the User Research is For
The User Research itself is primarily for researchers and academics.
The outcomes of the Literature Review are also being used to:
- promote accessibility solutions for coga
- develop resources for users, industry, and others
What is in the User Research
The User Research summarizes:
- Blah
A finding of the Literature Review is that existing WAI guidelines address many requirements of older web users. Yet, there is little reference to the WAI guidelines in literature and guidance covering the needs of older Web users.
