Greetings!
Welcome to the Leaders in Literacy Summer Writing Competition 2022, brought to you by Leaders in Literacy! Whether you're a seasoned writer, or truly enjoy expressing your thoughts through pen and paper, this competition is catered to you. We offer multiple writing categories for the competition, as well as separate divisions, assuring that your piece is as best as it can be. Lastly, in order to ensure that you are prepared for the competition, our team will be hosting one Writing Workshop per Category, all held by Alice Yang.
The theme for this year's competition is Jealousy

Categories
PERSONAL NARRATIVE
- Write about a meaningful life experience in under 800 words.
ORIGINAL POEM
- One page limit, single spaced, font size 12, Times New Roman.
PERSUASIVE ESSAY
- Write about your stance on a topic and support it with evidence in under 800 words.
- The topic can be taken from literature, real world issues, or historical events.
All writing should have the Theme of the Year included, or include elements from the theme.
* All submissions must be completed individually and plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Prizes
SENIOR DIVISION (GRADES 8 - 10)
For each category:
- First place - $25 Indigo Gift Card
- Second Place - $15 Indigo Gift Card
- 2 Honorary Mentions
JUNIOR DIVISION (GRADES 5 - 7)
For each category:
- First place - $25 Indigo Gift Card
- Second Place - $15 Indigo Gift Card
- 2 Honorary Mentions

Calling writers from all over the world in grades 5-10:
- Submissions open on July 8 and close on August 15
- Three categories include Personal Narrative, Original Poem, and Persuasive Essay
