2014 Milestone Review: Advancing Fuel Mix Optimization, Microgrid Commercialization & Smart Storage Integration in Hong Kong
In 2014, TerraHash Energy transitioned from foundational engineering to full-scale commercial pilot deployment across Hong Kong. Building upon our 2013 APAC HQ setup in Central, TerraHash accelerated its integration of intelligent energy storage management (ESS) and smart microgrid control platforms tailored for high-density urban infrastructure and thermal power assets.
Amid the HKSAR Government’s landmark public consultation on Future Fuel Mix, TerraHash played a pivotal role in optimizing regional auxiliary power efficiency, enabling utility partners to transition toward cleaner natural gas imports and distributed renewables with enhanced grid resilience.
TerraHash Energy partnered with industrial engineering contractors at Black Point Power Station in Tuen Mun to deploy a 2MW/4MWh containerized battery energy storage pilot (BESS). The system mitigates peak auxiliary power swings during gas-turbine ramp-ups.
Coinciding with the grand opening of HKSTP Science Park Phase 3, TerraHash integrated its Microgrid Controller Framework into the building's green automation systems, achieving real-time rooftop solar-wind load balancing.
Expanded circular thermal energy deployment to Tap Shek Kok, Tuen Mun. TerraHash commissioned a specialized high-efficiency organic Rankine cycle (ORC) recovery unit at Castle Peak Power Station, converting low-grade flue heat directly back into local grid supply.
Headquartered at Two International Finance Centre (Two IFC) in Central, TerraHash Energy secured $25M USD in Series B green growth capital. The funding accelerates deployment of smart energy management platforms across Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area cross-border industrial parks.
