Data Sources & Notes
All 42 country estimates were refreshed on 2026-09-10 against the latest published
Worlddata.info national IQ table
(last modified September 2026; evaluation window 2007–2025), which synthesises the
Rindermann (2007), Lynn & Meisenberg (2010) and Lynn & Becker (2019) datasets with
PISA results from 2015–2025. The 2026 revision raised most European values by 2–6 points
relative to the Lynn/Becker 2019 figures used in the previous version of this report
(e.g., Estonia 100→106, Czechia 98→102, Spain 94→101, United Kingdom 100→105),
consistent with re-normalisation against recent PISA rounds. Figures are shown as published (integers).

- Cross-check (2025–2026): World Population Review, "Average IQ by Country 2026" and DataPandas (International IQ Test 2025, n ≈ 1.2M) — online self-selected samples; rankings broadly consistent, levels typically 1–3 points higher.

- Palette: RG diverging palette (OKLCH perceptual color space) from the author's Palettes.json — Red oklch(0.50, 0.20, 25°) → Cream #FDF6E3 → Green oklch(0.50, 0.20, 143°); range clamped to the data bounds 87–106.
National IQ estimates are controversial and methodologically debated; a 2026 OSF evaluation
(Sear, R., "'National IQ' datasets do not provide accurate, unbiased or comparable measures of
cognitive ability worldwide") argues the underlying Lynn-style samples are often unrepresentative.
Values represent broad averages from psychometric studies and PISA-derived proxies, and are
influenced by education access, nutrition, socioeconomic factors, sampling methodology and the
Flynn effect (plus a documented reverse-Flynn effect in several European countries). Interpret with caution.
