About Us

Welcome to Al-Rayan International School! Our Primary School offers an engaging, quality curriculum from the Playgroup phase (ages 2-3), followed by the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Nursery through to Year 6 (ages 3-12). ARIS is an authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP) school, authorized April, 2016. The IB PYP educational philosophy provides a framework that enables us to educate our children to face the challenges of the 21st century by guiding and supporting them to become independent, life-long learners; learners who are responsible, productive, insightful and compassionate; learners motivated to become peaceful and internationally-minded citizens of the world.

Our programme at ARIS focuses on developing independent, skilled learners through Inquiry–based teaching and learning. It is a student-centred approach that allows broad scope combined with rigour, and that strongly encourages a global perspective. Although based on the PYP, our programme is compatible with both the Cambridge Assessment International Education framework and the British National Curriculum.

At ARIS, each and every child is unique. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to bringing out the best in each individual. As Paulo Coelho once remarked, “A teacher isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of his or her best in order to discover what he or she already knows.”

I am privileged and excited to be a part of this dynamic school community, and hope to demonstrate in practice our commitment and enthusiasm for everything we do.

Yours Sincerely,
Jane Doe.

Admission Requirements

The ARIS Admissions Policy and the concomitant procedures are characteristic of a young, vigorous and rapidly expanding international school. Most importantly, the policy is inclusive rather than exclusive, enabling, insofar as is possible, equity of access to the high quality learning environment that ARIS strives to offer.

This document depicts the relevant policy and its context, outlines certain of the procedures whereby the policy is effected, and where further explanation may be appropriate, provides some account of the rationale.

The roots of ARIS are grounded in an indigenous Ghanaian population. However, the student body also reflects much diversity, stemming from relatively mobile families often linked to the world beyond Ghana's borders and beyond the region of West Africa via, for example, commercial businesses (at sole trader, corporate and multinational levels), NGOs, charitable foundations and diplomatic missions.

Collectively, youngsters (now at any age between 2 and 19) whose parents seek their enrolment are exposed to an international Weltanschauung from the outset, if only by reason of peer diversity. International-mindedness is stimulated by everyday social interactions as well as the intrinsic elements of the school's globally-referenced curricular content, which is conducive to developing global perspectives.

A key tenet of the ARIS Mission Statement and Aims is inclusiveness:

Admission Procedures

ARIS is dedicated to serving international and local families. The Admissions Manager is dedicated to helping each family find the school that is the best match for them.

Every family has a different need, please use the resources of this website as the starting point for your inquiry, but remember: nothing is quite the same as experiencing the school environments in person.

ARIS knows that starting or changing school is a big step, particularly internationally. This can be a little intimidating. The ARIS Admissions Procedures are clear and transparent, this enables you to plan ahead as efficiently as possible. Below you will find an overview of the ARIS Admission Process, from pre-inquiry through official enrolment.

Before you decide to apply to ARIS, you must decide that ARIS is right for you, and your ward. The Admission personnel are available to help you do just that. ARIS has provided a number of different resources online to accompany you during this stage of the enquiry and pre-application research

Once you have decided to apply to ARIS, the time comes for submitting the application packet. Exactly what is required varies slightly depending on the age of your child. Please download the appropriate file below. Completed files may be returned by email to communication@aris.edu.gh or via post.

As soon as ARIS receives the completed application packet from you, the file will undergo a detailed review by the Admissions Manager, along with members of our SMT; the School Principal, the Head of Primary/Secondary School and other members of the educational team, as believed appropriate. Each application is given careful consideration. We are looking for internationally minded families/candidates who are committed to the ARIS mission and aims. ARIS will make the determination if the individual(s) will benefit from the curriculum, and if their qualities will make a positive contribution. Some applicants will have additional entry requirements, please see our Admissions Policy
