AEM 7130 Computational Paper Presentation

Requirements:

Presentation must be on:
- A numerical paper
- A computationally-driven empirical paper (e.g. big data, machine learning, satellite data)
- A methodology paper (e.g. LASSO for instrument selection)
- A package
15-25 minutes in length
Send me the slides the day before you present
You must consult with me about what you are presenting at least a week before your scheduled time
Do not cover your slides with tons of math

Act as if this is your own paper/package you are presenting

Motivate why what you are doing is interesting
Since this is a methodology course spend some time on how you solve the problem.
Explain your results.
What should we takeaway? What did the methods let you do?

Motivate why this method is interesting and useful.
Find an intuitive way to convey the method (e.g. a nice figure or gif like this).
Explain in what situations we want to use this method.

Walk us through what the package does.
Explain why economists would want to use it.
Write up some simple code (maybe some RMarkdown slides like mine, or just a notebook like this) showing us how to use it.
